Meet the Diamond Bar Team Behind Ellery ADU Studio Diamond Bar
Every ADU we build in Diamond Bar starts with the same thing: a person who shows up, listens, and writes down what you actually need. Our local crew isn’t rotated in from other counties or dispatched from a call center. These are the same faces you’ll see from the first site walk through final inspection. What unites us is simple - we all work under the same written standard, and none of us get to decide that “close enough” is good enough.
Our People
Nadia Ellery, Owner & Principal Designer
I’ve been designing and permitting ADUs since 2015, and I still walk every site before we quote a project. Not because I don’t trust my crew - because the slope of a driveway in Diamond Bar’s Walnut Valley, the exact setback from a property line in The Country, or the condition of a garage slab built in 1987 changes what we draw and what it costs. I’m licensed, insured, and stubborn about the details. I also keep a running bet with our permit expeditor about whether Los Angeles County or Diamond Bar’s own planning desk will return comments first. Current record: I’m down twelve bucks.
Marcus T., Lead Technician & Site Supervisor
Marcus runs our field operations and has been with us since 2019. He’s the person who translates permit drawings into actual walls, actual plumbing rough-ins, and actual electrical panels that pass inspection the first time. His specialty is foundation work on hillside lots - he’s certified in CA seismic retrofitting and knows which Diamond Bar neighborhoods sit on the old alluvial fan versus the more stable bedrock near the Pomona Freeway. Offsite, he restores vintage motorcycles and applies the same patience to a 1973 Honda that he does to a tricky utility tie-in.
Elena R., Senior Installer & Finish Carpenter
Elena handles the details most clients never think about until they walk into a finished unit: trim that meets at actual right angles, tile layouts that don’t leave slivers at the doorway, cabinets hung plumb in a garage conversion where the original slab has settled half an inch. She’s been building ADUs for seven years and holds a California C-6 Cabinet, Millwork and Finish Carpentry license. She grew up in Pomona, knows the local lumber yards by reputation, and once spent three days hand-fitting a custom window seat because the prefab unit didn’t account for a 1940s garage wall that was three degrees out of square. She plays competitive pool on Thursday nights.
David K., Service Coordinator & Permit Liaison
David is the person who answers when you call, schedules your site walk, and tracks your permit through Diamond Bar’s Community Development Department and Los Angeles County when needed. He’s been with us four years and has the local process memorized - which plans examiner prefers structural calcs in the initial submittal, how to route a utility easement question, and the typical turnaround for a garage conversion versus a new detached unit. Before joining us, he worked in commercial construction administration, which is why our change-order rate sits near zero. He has two dogs who have learned to sleep through his weekend woodworking projects.
Jin P., Apprentice Installer
Jin joined us in 2023 through a California community college construction technology program and is working toward his B-General Building license. Right now he’s Elena’s shadow on finish work and Marcus’s extra set of hands on framing days. He’s already passed his OSHA 30 and is certified in lead-safe renovation practices - important in Diamond Bar, where any garage built before 1978 needs proper testing before demolition. Jin asks questions that make us better, like why we specify a particular vapor barrier in Diamond Bar’s inland heat versus what he’d seen used in coastal builds. He commutes from Rowland Heights and is quietly saving for his own ADU on his parents’ property.
One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard isn’t a suggestion we pass around at meetings. It’s a contract clause, signed by every team member, that governs how we work on your property. Written price before any work starts - Clause 1 - means Marcus can’t add a line item after framing begins. Documented photo record on every visit means Elena photographs her work before it’s covered by drywall, and you receive those images, not a summary of how it felt. The 365-Day Done Right Promise means if Jin’s first solo trim job needs adjustment next spring, we come back and make it right, in writing, no debate.
We’ve designed, permitted, and built over 900 ADUs since 2015. Every one of them had a written price at signing and a photo record at completion. That consistency comes from people, not policy documents. The policy just makes sure we don’t forget.
